Guinea Pigs and Snow

Guinea pigs are great indoor pets. They should not be kept outdoors. If they are outdoors, you may want to talk to your vet to make sure you have the proper habitat set up and safety measures in place. In general, it’s not recommended for them to be outside. This means your guinea pig shouldn’t be out in the snow. If your guinea pig is used to some outside time in a supervised and secure area then he may see some snow or even get to touch it for a quick minute just to explore it. But he should be supervised and only out for a minute or so. Guinea pigs are highly susceptible to colds that can fast track into pneumonia, which is not always treatable. It’s best to keep your cavy indoors. If you want him to see snow then just bring a handful inside and let him explore. Talk to your vet clinic Covington, GA for more details.
