Did you know that dogs can get corns on their paws just like people can get them on their feet? The corn can be extremely painful especially for your dog. If you notice your dog isn’t walking around like usual and he appears to not be putting pressure on his paw then check the paw pad for any sign of corns and give your vet a call to schedule an appointment. Corns can often develop as a result of pressure or trauma on the paw, an infection, or from a previous scar or injury to the paw. Treatment for immediate relief of the pressure may involve surgically removing the corn from the paw. After, you may need to apply a pressure-relief bandage to relieve the pressure on the paw until the incision can heal. You may need to keep your dog off of hard surface for a time. Your vets Aurora, CO may recommend 14 days for healing. Read more here.
