If you have a pasture full of small livestock such as goats, sheep, or even pigs then you may want to consider getting a pasture guardian. No, not your dog. Sure, your dog can keep watch during the day, but your dog is probably not the best guardian to be out in the pasture with the livestock. Instead, you should check into getting a donkey. Whether full size or mini, the donkey is known to be one of the best at guarding the pasture and the flock. Donkeys do not allow predators into their territory. They’ll bray, charge and pretty much kick and fight until the predator leaves. If you get a donkey, introduce him slowly to your livestock so that he’ll accept them as his herd. After that, just leave the rest up to him! For more tips and information, give our certified vet clinic Westminster MD a call.
