Eating Habits Of Rabbits

Rabbits are creatures of prey. Even with domestication, they have retained several instincts that have kept rabbits living in the wild safe from predators. Rabbits spend about 6-8 hours of the day eating and the rest of the time digesting food. They usually eat early in the morning, evening, and at night. This feeding pattern has been noticed by many rabbit owners. In the wild, these are usually the time when rabbits feel they are safest from predators. While feeding, rabbits are always alert, being always on the lookout for potential predators and perceived threats. Their large ears coupled with large eyes set on each side of their head allow them to get a wide filed of vision. Rabbits can’t actually see what is under their nose. They depend on their sense of smell and texture to detect food.
