If you own an aging cat then you may already be seeing some sighs of mobility changes. This is often normal for older cats, but it should always be checked by a veterinarian. Cats tend to develop arthritis as they age. Arthritis is different from Osteoarthritis, which may also begin to show up as a cat ages. Both conditions can develop at any age, but again, they are more common in older cats. Both conditions are also more common in cats that are prone to other conditions such as hip dysplasia. Here’s the difference between the two conditions. Arthritis typically refers to the painful inflammation of a cat’s joints. This is not the same as Osteoarthritis or DJD, which stands for Degenerative Joint Disease. DJD occurs when the joints deteriorate completely. Symptoms are similar as both may start out as simple trouble with walking or jumping. Learn more by clicking here or calling your vet Cornelius, NC.
