Cat Myths: Cats Like to be Alone

Contrary to popular belief, not all cats like to be alone nor are they solitary creatures. Some cats actually love being the center of attention and want to be part of the crowd. Even some of the most socially distant cats will still come when called and will most often enjoy a small amount of time being the center of attention. If your cat is noticeably standoffish and doesn’t want to be with anyone else, please call your vet especially if this is not routine behavior. This could indicate that your cat is ill or going through some type of stress or anxiety. Some experts have found that cats can go through separation anxiety if they are separated from their person or even another pet in the house. Cats often enjoy the presence of others even if it’s only to antagonize them (i.e. the family dog). Learn more about cat behaviors from your vet clinic Flat Rock, NC. Schedule an appointment today!
