Have you noticed your cat’s claws have become particularly sharp? If so then it may be time to trim them. If you aren’t comfortable trimming your cat’s claws then you may want to ask your vet office if a tech or the vet will do it. This often costs either an office visit or a flat fee of around $20. Your vet can give you the exact price. Some grooming salons will also trim a cat’s claws by appointment or on a walk in basis. Call ahead to find out if a local groomer near you offers the service. If your trim the claws yourself then make sure you have cat claw or nail clippers. You should also have styptic powder, corn starch or flour nearby in case you cut the nail to close to the quick or vein and cause bleeding. The powder can clot and stop the bleeding.
