Are you stepping out and stepping up to the plate when it comes to showing your guinea pig? That’s awesome! Here are some tips to help you out. First, make sure your guinea pig or cavy as they are often called is registered with the American Rabbit Breeders Association (ARBA), which is also the cavy association. Once your little guy is registered you’ll have access to show schedules, show registration forms and guidelines. Next, you will need to sign up for a show and place your guinea pig in the right class. Classes are picked based on breed, age and size, and coloring. There are thirteen accepted breeds, three age categories (with specified weights), and 23 accepted color varieties accepted within five groupings of guinea pigs. The groups include self colors, agouti colors, solid colors, marked colors or broken colors, and tan patterns. Consult your vet clinic Bucks County, PA for help determining the exact breed, age and color of your cavy or Click here for more information.
