Ear aches or ear infections can be a common occurrence in dogs no matter their breed, gender or age. Some dogs, however, may be more prone to infections than others. For instance, the retrievers like the Golden tend to have curled over ears which have been known to trap in moisture and create ear yeast infections. Pomeranians can have ears that curl over (the Teddy Bear Pomeranian) or ears that point straight up (the Fox Pomeranian). Ears that point straight up usually stay clean. You should just watch them for dirt and debris and wipe them down routinely. If your dog is scratching his ears excessively or shaking his head a lot then he could have an ear infection or ear ache. Your vet may prescribe antibiotic ear drops to help. Please do not self treat and do not stick anything into your dog’s ears. Consult with your veterinarians Murrieta, CA for treatment.
