Cats can definite develop allergies or even be born with allergies just like dogs, other animals and even people. Some cats can be allergic to food, things in the environment, insect bites, etc. One of the first things you may see in your cat regarding allergies is sneezing, coughing, wheezing, itchy skin, runny eyes, itchy back or base of tail, itchy ears and frequent ear infections, paw chewing, swollen paws, snoring caused by an inflamed throat, diarrhea, and vomiting. These can all be signs of allergies from the environment (i.e. pollen) or from food or other sources. Talk to your vet to find out how to figure out exactly where these allergic reactions are coming from. Once you know then you’ll be able to help your cat. For instance, you may need to change your cat’s diet or keep your outdoor cat indoors at different times of the year. Learn more here or call your animal hospital Chesapeake, VA.
