Does Your Cat Display Aggressive Behaviors?

The predator instincts of pet cats can still be displayed in certain situations, such as when they are at play, during social interactions with other cats, animals, or humans, or when they find themselves in stressful situations. Domestication hasn’t eliminated these instincts that are also responsible for aggressive displays of the behavior of pet cats.

Any form of aggression in pet cats should never be tolerated or reinforced. If your cat is showing aggressive tendencies, take steps to nip it in the bud immediately. Don’t assume that it will go away on its own. Aggression that is tolerated or reinforced can eventually become deeply ingrained making your furball difficult to manage and control.

You can, however, create opportunities for your cat to engage in natural behaviors, such as letting them play with fishing pole toys or laser pointers that they can chase, swipe, attack, and other behaviors associated with stalking and catching prey.
