Insulinoma is a disease that can cause an over production of insulin in ferrets. Insulinoma is often seen in ferrets although it isn’t extremely common. The disease itself takes place when the cells in the pancreas produce tumors or nodules that in turn cause an increase in insulin production or hypoglycemia. Signs of the illness may include lethargy, starring off into space, avoiding food, trouble using hind limbs, and even seizures.
