Sometimes we just can’t help but give our sheep extra treats every now and again. People have used food as a way to show friendship and establish bonds with animals for centuries. So what kind of treats can you give your sheep? Your vet, local grain store associate, or even fellow sheep owners can give you several ideas. For instance, some sheep owners recommend sticking with commercial treats that are specifically made for sheep. Avoid horse treats as these tend to have high levels of copper which could hurt sheep. Some sheep owners feed their sheep animal crackers while others prefer to add a little corn or even alfalfa cubes to their sheep’s daily diet. There are all kinds of things that you can and can’t feed your sheep. Some fruits and veggies may also be OK for sheep to have.
