Did you know that you shouldn’t handle newborn puppies a lot? They can be so cute and extremely fluffy and adorable, but you shouldn’t touch right away. Some vets recommend waiting for a short time before handling the puppies especially if they are bonding with their mother. If the mother appears to be neglecting her pups or is ill then you may need to handle the puppies much sooner especially if bottle feeding them. The mother, however, will most likely be very protective of her pups. Do not let other dogs or people she is unfamiliar with near the puppies. If you do hold the puppies yourself, make sure you do not leave the mother’s sight. It is recommended that you only hold them for five to ten minutes to start with. You can hold them longer once you see how the mother reacts. For more tips, call your vet clinic Davie FL.
