Shelter Dogs

There are a lot of dogs out there in need of a home. Some dogs are in other homes, foster homes, or even in pet stores. Yes, even pet store dogs need to be rescued as some pet stores are not reputable. These are all types of dogs, but there is another type known as the shelter dog. Some people who aren’t sure what breed of dog they want choose to adopt an adult or senior dog from a shelter or adoption agency. Why? Older dogs in shelters often come with a background or history report that can help owners decide if the dog is right for them and their home environment. Younger shelter dogs may not have a background report, but shelters tend to vaccinate and even give a training session to determine the dog’s abilities and best home fits. If you’re not looking for a certain breed (or even if you are), ask your vet clinic Virginia Beach, VA about a shelter dog!
