The Boxer

The Boxer is a medium-sized dog that is strong, intelligent, and loves to play. Boxers were originally developed in Germany as working dogs. They were bred from the Old English Bulldog and the Bullenbeisser, which is now extinct. Most Boxers come in brown, fawn, or brindle colors while some come in white. They tend to stand around 21 to 25 inches tall and weigh anywhere from 55 to 70 pounds. Although they appear to be a large dog, they are considered to be of medium build. They are alert dogs that know when to react to strangers and when to remain calm. They make excellent guard dogs as well as companions. Most Boxers get along with other dogs and do well with children. The breed is often prone to a variety of health concerns with the main one being Degenerative Myelopathy (DM).
