Texas River Cooter Turtle

Did you know that there is a turtle called the Texas River Cooter turtle? This is a type of fresh water turtle that is generally native to creeks, rivers and other bodies of water. These particular turtles are native to Texas as well as other states prone to large bodies of water like rivers and lakes. The Texas River Cooter turtles are large with the ability to grow a shell that is roughly 12 or more inches long. They are generally green with yellow and black markings that tend to fade as the turtle grows older. Males have longer tails and longer claws than females; however, their overall body size is smaller than that of the female. The Texas River Cooter is similar to the Red-Eared slider in habits and behaviors.
