Obesity in Pet Rabbits

Rabbits are prone to obesity because they do not get sufficient exercise as they stay inside the cage most of the time. Rabbits have different breeds. How to tell if a rabbit is obese depends on the standard weight and size assigned for a particular breed. Just like in humans and other pet animals, being overweight causes several health problems. The best way for rabbit owners is to prevent their pets from gaining unwanted calories. Pet owners should avoid giving their bunnies sugary treats or junk foods, and should instead feed them with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Rabbits should also once in a while engage in physical activities that will allow them to jump and hop, just like what they naturally do in the wild. However, pet owners should take caution when letting their pets out of the cage and ensure that the room is safe for rabbits to explore.
