Cattitude: Rough Play or Aggression

vet Lexington KY

Does your kitty sometimes scratch you? Cats are a bit confusing in this area. Sometimes they scratch playfully, or even out of affection. They can also lash out if they are feeling scared, threatened, or angry, or if they just don’t want to go into their carriers.

It’s important to be able to tell the difference between playful bad manners and true aggression. If Fluffy is really angry, she may flatten her ears or lash her tail. She may also bite harder. Playful cats don’t usually use much force, and they may stop their ‘attack’ to meow at you or start licking you.

If Fluffy is just being silly and rude, tell her ‘No’ and ignore her for a while. If she’s acting aggressive, leave her be. Consult your vet if your pet’s cattitude is an ongoing problem.

Ask your vet Lexington, KY for more information on kitty aggression, and what to do about it.
