A lot of time and preparation goes into gearing up for a guinea pig or cavy show. Before attending you will need to prepare your Abyssinian guinea pig. First, bathe your guinea pig. If you’re unsure what shampoo to use, talk to your vet about which products work best for your particular cavy. It’s recommended that you bathe your cavy one week before the show if he has short hair and up to two weeks before the show if he has long hair. Some experts recommend a dip for your cavy as well to prevent lice or lice eggs from developing in the coat. Consult your veterinarian if you are going to dip your cavy.
