Do you have a pet first-aid kit ready for your pet? If not, we strongly recommend making one. Our animal companions are very curious and playful, and rather prone to mischief. And while hopefully you’ll never have to deal with an injured pet, it’s best to be prepared in case something does happen.
You can usually start with a first-aid kit made for people. Then, you can add some pet-specific items. Some of the things you may want to include are non-stick gauze, styptic powder, curved-end scissors, a tick popper, a muzzle, a thermal blanket, and a spare leash. Of course, it depends on what type of pet you have. If you have a reptile, you’ll want to include things like popsicle sticks, tweezers, a pen light, and non-spermicidal condoms for wrapping lizard tails. It’s also best to put some pet first-aid brochures in, along with the number for the nearest emergency clinic.
