Quick Steps to Clip Fido’s Nails

One part of your dog’s grooming routine that you can easily do at home is nail trims. All you’ll need is the right tools and a little patience. Read on to find out how to clip your dog’s nails.

Pick up a nail trimmer made specifically for dogs, a styptic powder, and a few tasty dog treats. Choose one paw to start with, and select one nail on that paw. Carefully trim the tip with your clippers; you’re only trying to blunt it. If you clip too far, you’ll cause bleeding. That’s where your styptic powder comes in. (If you can’t get the bleeding to stop, call your vet.) Work your way around the other nails on that paw, and then the other paws. Reward your dog with treats as you go along.

If you don’t feel comfortable trimming Fido’s nails yourself, we can help. Make an appointment with your veterinarian Tipp City, OH.
