Cats are quite sensitive creatures. They may not be able to adapt easily to changes in their routine. They can get stressed if they move to a new home, or if there is a new member in the household.
The stress brought about by these changes can change your cat’s behavior. You might be surprised if your cat starts to poop anywhere, or destroys furniture. Your cat could disappear for a few days or so.
You can bring your cat to the vet for assessment. If your cat turns out to be healthy, then you can review your surroundings to see what caused the change in the behavior.
If you identified the stressor, find ways to help your cat to adjust. Perhaps you can go back to previous routines, or you need to rearrange some of the furniture that your cat uses. But in cases like moving to a new house or getting an additional member in the household, give your cat more time to adjust.
