What To Do If Your Dog Has Been Bitten By Another Dog

If your pet dog somehow gets into a tussle with another canine, the first thing to do is to check your dog for any visible signs of wounds or bites. This will tell you if you should seek immediate medical assistance for your pet. If the wounds and/or scratches that you find are merely superficial, call your veterinary clinic for recommendations on what must be done next.  But if the wounds or bites are pretty deep, taking your pet over to the veterinary clinic right away is the best course of action.  A wound could get infected and possibly lead to complications if it is not appropriately and promptly treated. Your pet may also become infected with the rabies virus, and this infection does not become overtly obvious for a number of days or even weeks before the visible signs set in.  Be aware that the rabies virus is zoonotic, meaning one infected dog can possibly put at risk one entire home, both humans and pets.  Be absolutely sure that you follow the advice of your experienced veterinarian London ON and closely observe your pet while he recovers
