Are you looking for a unique family type cat? If so, you may want to check out the American Wirehair. This cute feline is fun loving, playful, and gets along with people of all ages including children. The wirehair was discovered in 1966 on a farm in upstate New York. The wirehaired kitten was part of a litter of six American Shorthair kittens. The mutation creating the wirehair occurred on its own as the result of breeding two domestic shorthair cats. The wirehair, as its name suggests, has a wiry coat that closely resembles that of a terrier canine. The coat is both coarse and soft. If you push on the fur it will bounce back like a sponge. Most wirehair cats are kept for breeding or showing so it might be a little difficult to locate one for a pet. Click here to learn more or give your veterinarians Valley Center, KS a call.
