Foods That Are Toxic To Dogs

Our canine friends are known for having pretty strong appetites. They’re also pretty opportunistic eaters. Fido isn’t exactly shy about snapping up food from the floor or begging his humans for treats. Just be careful with what you give him. Many things are dangerous to dogs!

Chocolate is one of the biggest concerns. It contains something called theobromine, which is toxic to dogs at just one ounce per pound of body weight. Other unsafe foods include garlic, onions, scallions, and chives; meat on the bone; avocado; any food with seeds or pips; raw meat, dough, or yeast; alcohol; caffeine; and anything that contains xylitol. Nuts and mushrooms are also on the no-no list, as is anything with a lot of fat, sugar, or salt.

For more information on safe and unsafe foods, visit their site, or contact your vet Kerrville, TX. It never hurts to learn more.
