Acute renal failure (or ARF) is characterized by the malfunctioning of the kidneys. When a ferret develops ARF, it may experience unusual changes in the body’s function. The body fluid and mineral balance will be affected. Also, the major systems and organs of the ferret are affected. Some of the known causes of ARF are:
- Toxins in the body
- Obstruction in the urethra
- Ruptured urinary bladder
- Reduced blood flow in the kidneys
- Older ferrets have higher chances of developing ARF. But this doesn’t mean that younger ferrets are immune.
