Physical Traits Of Chihuahuas

Chihuahuas are easily recognizable because of their small stature and other physical traits. Chihuahuas have round eyes, large and protruding relative to their heads. Their ears do not lie flat and not floppy but instead, stick straight up.

The breed comes in most colors and combinations like spotted or solid. The usual Chihuahua colors are red, fawn, brown, white, and black.

Chihuahuas come in two types. There is the smooth coat or short-haired type, and there is the long coat type Chihuahua. The type names are pretty much descriptive based on the animal’s fur length.

When deciding which kind of Chihuahua to acquire, remember that the long coat type sheds more when compared to the smooth coat type. They also require more frequent grooming and brushing to maintain their fur’s health.

Additionally, Chihuahuas can also have two head shapes. One is the apple head Chihuahua and the other is the deer head Chihuahua. The apple heads have a full and round head, much like their namesake fruit while the deer heads have narrow faces that are similar to deer.
