One of the newest cat breeds is the LaPerm cat. This cat has curly hair that is soft to touch. The name comes from a hair treatment about getting curly hair.
To begin with, this breed came about in 1982 in Oregon, the USA from a litter of cats with mixed breeds. This breed is a result of natural mutation.
The Koehl couple, who own the cat litters, saw that one of the kittens was born hairless. But after a few months, the kitten grew curly fur. The subsequent litters also show the same characteristics. With this result, the couple began to breed this select cat group. At present, cat associations recognize the LaPerm cat as a breed. But this cat breed is only popular in the US.
