Managing Your Cat’s Litter Box Problems

There could be a lot of reasons as to why your pet cat might dislike using her litter box.  The box’s location, design, or litter type could very well be the reason.  Knowing what the reason is will help you to manage your pet’s elimination in unwanted areas in your home.  A cat’s olfactory senses are extremely sensitive.  Therefore, keep your pet’s litter box clean because she can get turned off with a poorly maintained litter box.  Be sure to scoop out the litter at least two times per day and use soap and water when giving it a thorough cleaning.  Allow the box to dry completely before topping it off with a fresh layer of litter.

If the litter is not the issue, it might be the litter box’s design.  There are cats that dislike small litter boxes or ones that have high walls.  Some cats like boxes that have covers, some prefer uncovered ones because they will not feel as vulnerable.
If you have concerns about your pet’s elimination habits, it is a good idea to make an appointment with your vet clinic Webster NY.
