Bulging Eye in Dogs Like the Papillon

Your Papillon’s eye can pop out of socket or at least appear to be popping out of the socket due to bulging or pressure build up behind the eye. If this happens to your Papillon, call the vet immediately. Never try to repair the eye yourself by pushing it back into the socket. Always call the vet and follow his instructions. In some cases, you may be instructed to cover the eye with a damp, clean cloth and hold it in place with a loosely wrapped bandage. If possible, soak the cloth in warm, salty water to help preserve the eye. Take your dog to the vet as quickly as possible. While on the phone, ask your vet if you should go to an emergency ophthalmologist instead. If there is one close by, your vet may send you there.
