Rabbits have very soft fur, which makes them great for snuggling. They are also quite clean, and do groom themselves. However, Floppy will still need some help with all that hair. Bunnies often swallow their own fur, just like cats do. Unfortunately, they aren’t able to expel that hair by producing hairballs. This means that ingested fur can cause serious intestinal blockages. Brushing your furry pal regularly can help prevent this.
You’ll need to be very gentle when brushing your rabbit. Floppy’s skin is very delicate, and can tear easily. Be sure to use the right type of brush and/or comb. This will vary, depending on what type of fur your pet has, so ask your vet for recommendations.
A few times a year, your bunny will shed all of her fur and grow new hair. This is called molting. You’ll need to brush her daily during these ‘wardrobe changes.’ Longhaired rabbits also need daily beauty sessions.Ask your animal hospital Flat Rock, NC for specific advice on your bunny’s health and care.
