Favorite Spots Of Ticks

Ticks like warm and humid spots, which include moist surfaces that are under direct sunlight.  On pet dogs, several of the typical spots where you might find ticks are:

  • The underside of the tail – Tail undersides, close to the base, in particular, are prime habitats for these parasites.  Tail undersides are moist and there might be fecal residue.  This is typical with dogs that have longer rear-end fur or broad tails.  If your pet nibbles at his rear or scoots along the floor in an attempt to ease irritation or scratch an itch, it could be because of a tick that bit him there.
  • Ears – Inside your dog’s ears can be good spots for ticks since they can be moist, dark, and warm, conditions that ticks like.  Dogs that have long and floppy ears are particularly susceptible to this, however, any dog breed could harbor ticks in their ears.  If your dog has ticks in the ear, he will probably be scratching his head all too often or might keep shaking his ears in an attempt to get the tick dislodged.

If you notice any signs of infection, parasites, and other skin and hair coat problems, it is a good idea to make an appointment with your animal hospital Washington DC so your pet can undergo a thorough checkup. Visit the website.
