Your Sleepy Cat

Is your cat sleeping right now? More than likely, that would be a yes. Kitties are extremely tired: they can spend up to 20 hours a day snoozing.

There is somewhat of a logical explanation for this. In the wild, cats use a lot of energy in a very short time hunting. And, once they have scored dinner, they don’t really have to do anything else, other than recuperate.

The fact that cats can get into serious trouble if they overheat may also be relevant. Kitties can’t sweat to cool off, as people can, and panting isn’t very effective for them. Our feline friends may have learned to take extra care not to get too tired.

Does your pet actually need 20 hours of sleep? Probably not. However, you probably won’t have much luck convincing her otherwise. Offer lots of comfy beds and napping spots.

You’ll also need to take your drowsy pet to visit her pet clinic Louisville, KY regularly for exams.
