No one likes to experience car sickness. We can only imagine what it’s like for our pet dogs since they rely on our ability to tell when something’s wrong. Knowing your pet’s behavior pattern is a good start. You can’t expect one approach to work on every dog that’s ever experienced car sickness.
It’s not unusual for a dog to become accustomed to traveling by car after reaching 12 months. But if you have a pet that scares easily, start with five-minute trips. Extend it a little bit each time you bring him with you. Symptoms usually end minutes after the car ride is over.
But if the symptoms are still giving your dog a hard time hours after the trip, something else is at play. If symptoms suddenly appear even if you’re not in transit, take your friend to the vet.
If there is unexplained vomiting and irregular bowel movement, don’t take it lightly. It could be a sign of one or more health issues.
If you have any questions or concerns about your pet’s health and/or behavior, don’t hesitate to contact your vet clinic Louisville KY.
