Does Your Pet Rabbit Need A Bath?

Would your pet rabbit need to be bathed?  Generally, no.  Like cats, pet rabbits are quite finicky creatures about their hygiene.  Rabbits spend a lot of time just grooming themselves or each other if they are housed with a buddy.  Baths are not only unneeded but giving your rabbit one could traumatize it.  Most rabbits, just like cats, dislike the water.  Bathing a rabbit could just stress out the animal, maybe even trigger a heart attack.  But there could be corner cases where rabbits that have “poopy butts” be given a necessary shallow bath.

What is more important here is to keep your pet rabbit’s living areas always dry, clean, and properly ventilated.  Ensure that you regularly clean your rabbit’s litter box and use newspaper-based, unscented litter so that urine is absorbed and odors are minimized.

Your veterinarian Derby is a valuable resource when it comes to your pet’s health and needs.
