Grooming Your Bichon Frise

Here are some facts about a Bichon’s coat that can help you meet your pet’s grooming needs:

●Bichon Frises have a white double coat, with the undercoat soft and outer coat coarse— which gives it its substantial texture.

●The coat, standing away from the Bichon’s body, resembles a powder puff.

●Bichons are usually trimmed by following the line of their body, keeping the length enough to maintain their poofy look.

●Many think that Bichons don’t shed, but they do, as with anyone with hair. But the double coat causes the shedding hair to get stuck underneath. These hairs, however, must be removed by brushing/combing to prevent tangles, which often result in skin problems.

Bichons, in terms of grooming, are high maintenance and time-consuming. Brushing should be done at least two times a week, while bathing is a must when their white coat gets dirty. Before bathing them, be sure that they don’t have any tangle/mat. Otherwise, the mats will become tighter and hopeless to remove.

Any skin and/or hair coat issue exhibited by your pet should warrant an appointment with your pet clinic Coral Springs, FL
