Despite the Flat-Coat’s affectionate nature, these dogs do not make ideal housemates for toddlers and fragile elderlies. This breed, unaware of how strong they are, may hurt people as they jump and play rambunctiously. Flat-Coats aren’t excellent guard dogs— although they bark when someone comes, they’ll only give intruders a warm welcome as they lick their faces and hands.
