Dogo Argentinos are not only loyal but also highly territorial dogs— that’s why they’re a good watchdog. They defend their humans, including children. However, they may not be so good for your small pups and cats due to their strong preying instinct, but it’s also for this reason that Dogo Argentinos make excellent, strong hunters for wild boars.
Such independent dogs as the Dogo Argentinos take an experienced trainer/owner, as socialization can be a challenge for this not-so-friendly breed (especially towards people/animals they don’t know). Lots of mental and physical stimulation is necessary— apartment dwellers may need to reconsider. Lastly, be sure to start training them while they’re still young.
Dogo Argentinos are often mistaken for American Bulldogs, but their white coat and height (which is taller than that of Bulldogs) distinguish the Argentinos. You may also think they’re Pit Bull Terriers, but they’re too different (e.g., Argentinos are larger).
Any concerns you may have about your pet’s health and/or behavior should be brought to the attention of your veterinarian Cherry Hill, NJ.
