Why Does My Cat Like to Sit in High Places?

There are many reasons why cats stay in a high place. Some of them think that they are safer when they stay in elevated areas. However, they are not only concerned about their safety. Some only do it to hide from their fellow cats or kitten. Even mother cats hide from their kitties when they are weaning.

Another reason your cat likes sitting in a high place is to avoid being disturbed. Noisy and chaotic households, especially those with children, tend to experience this. She might also feel comfortable with where she’s staying, which is why she keeps returning. Your cat might be one of those who prefer warm environments over, and the top of your fridge meets this requirement. Or, she might be hiding or keeping herself safe from predators she spotted around your house.

Scared cats will more likely seek comfort in higher places than ground-level places. If she experiences this situation repeatedly, she will eventually associate the high place she stays with a place for comfort and security. These are the possible reasons your cat likes hanging out above your fridge or the other high places in your house.
