Gordon Setter’s Personality And Temperament

Not all animals bred to be strong, firm, and courageous behave aggressively and are hostile toward nice people. Some can be social, accommodating, loyal, and loving, and they can become people’s lifetime companions.

One of these breeds is the Gordon Setter. These dogs originally bred in England and Scotland have been around since the 16th century. They assisted early hunters for pheasants and quails. They were successful in this endeavour. But these days, Gordon Setters have become family companions.

Because of their devotion to their humans and being reserved for strangers, these Setters make great watchdogs. They also tend to be “leaders” of the pack because of their willfulness and dominance.

These dogs are also known for being skilled, fearless, and alert. They do not back down in any fights or simple competitive situations. But when these dogs are only six and nine months old, they need coddles and assurance they are safe around you.
