Creating Bonding Sessions Among Pet Rabbits

Pet rabbits need to receive sufficient amounts of daily interaction. Getting the chance to socialize with people or other pets can make rabbits more flexible and well-rounded. If you’re planning to bring home bunnies, be aware of the methods of how you can bond them correctly. A good relationship with other bunnies will ensure everyone’s improved quality of life. Here are tips to keep in mind during your rabbits’ bonding sessions:

  • Familiarize yourself with aggressive behaviors among rabbits. When you know these, you’ll know when to intervene during bonding sessions. Some aggressive behaviors of bunnies include spraying, mounting, swatting, nipping, and chasing.
  • Female and male rabbits tend to be bossy. Sometimes, rabbits show dominance as part of the process of interacting with other bunnies.
  • Make the first few bonding sessions short – ten to fifteen minutes. Gradually increase the time when you see the rabbits become comfortable with one another.
  • Always check the animals for injuries after each bonding time.

If you have concerns about your pet’s behavior, make an appointment with your veterinary clinic.
