Poodles are naturally elegant-looking dogs. They radiate a regal stance with their dignified attitude widely called “an air of distinction.”
But did you even know these dogs have runny or weepy eyes? Yes, they have. Their eyes produce a watery discharge or mucus that stains the hair surrounding their eyes. The tearstains are more evident when a Poodle has a light coat color.
Can you reduce this staining? Yes, you can. Here are some tips to lessen the stains that develop under a Poodle’s eyes:
· Wipe around the face, especially the surrounding parts of the eyes, of the dog. Do this daily.
· Use a washcloth damped with warm water.
· You may also use a pet wipe that’s free from alcohol.
The Poodle’s ears should also be monitored. His ears have hair inside that may trap dirt or small debris. Here are some steps to keep this body part in check:
· Watch out for a bad odor, redness, or dirt in the dog’s ears. Any of these symptoms may indicate an infection.
· Clean the ears using a cotton ball damped with an ear cleaner (gentle and pH-balanced).
