Tail Chasing in Dogs

Dogs are naturally playful pets that sometimes you will see your pet dog occasionally chase its tail while playing. But, if tail-chasing happens habitually or persistently, it might be due to an underlying behavioral or health-related issue and not just because of your pet’s playful nature. Some dogs chase their tail in an attempt to find relief because of an anal sac disease or the presence of worms in the anus. Certain neurological conditions brought about by brain and nerve problems cause some dogs to exhibit peculiar behaviors, including excessive tail-chasing. Some dogs with tail irritation or injury feel anxious and seek comfort from tail chasing until it becomes a habit even after the tail has healed. Lack of daily activities is another reason for tail chasing. Dogs that lack stimulation physically and mentally tend to feel bored and find ways to keep themselves busy and release their energy.
